Interview with: Commercial Relations Officer Floris Geijer
Who are you and what position in the board do you have?
I’m Floris Geijer, Commercial Relations Officer of the 32nd board of Cedo Nulli.
Can you describe what this position does?
The Commercial Relations Officer is responsible for maintaining contact with current partners and seeking contact with new potential partners. Furthermore you are responsible for achieving your financial target which you have set at the beginning of your board year. At last, you are also the main point of contact for external parties wishing to collaborate with you.
What is the best part of your position?
The best part is that the Commercial Relations Officer, in comparison to other positions, is the amount of freedom you get. There are not as many standardized tasks which means you personally have a lot of influence in what you choose to do, as long as your target is matched. This might not be a preference for many, but it definitely is for me!
How do you experience being a board supervisor of committees?
I only supervise the Professional Development Committee and the NMUN-project. It goes without saying that I love both committees! The Professional Development Committee is very motivated and organize many interesting activities. I enjoy doing this since I prefer career related committees due to a personal interest. My committee members are great people of which I in turn also learn a lot from. The NMUN project is incredible. It was a lot of work to organize this trip but I learned a lot from it. We have worked hard every Tuesday night for 6 months in order to perform wel in New York. The last they did as we won many awards. The most rewarding was to see the endless happiness of the delegates as they received their awards and that their hard work and dedication paid off.
Is being on the board what you expected of it?
No, a board year is never what you expect. It’s impossible to know what you’re up against. It is something you really have to experience to know what its like. It’s far more hectic than I thaught it would be, but that is something positive. Further, there are many experiences that you will learn a lot from and truly develop yourself. You end up meeting many people for work and social reasons. Being in close contact with partners is also very good for your network. Long story short, a board year is incredible!
